Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQs)
What does your firm specialize in?
Two things: concentrated stock position planning for people sitting on $1M+ in a single stock, and corporate exit planning for executives and senior professionals ready to leave their job. Both come down to the same skill — making smart, tax-aware decisions with equity compensation, RSUs, and stock options.
Who do you work with?
Our clients are typically VP, Director, and senior-level professionals with $2–5M+ in assets or company equity who are preparing for a corporate exit, early retirement, or transition into consulting.
What are golden handcuffs, and why do they matter?
Golden handcuffs are compensation packages that make it financially difficult to leave a company like stock grants, bonuses, or deferred pay. Without planning, they can trap you in a job longer than you want. With the right strategy, they can become the foundation of your independence.
How are you different from other financial advisors?
Most advisors are generalists who handle a little bit of everything — retirement, investments, insurance. We're a boutique firm that does two things deeply: concentrated stock planning and corporate exit planning. If your situation involves significant equity, RSUs, or a single stock that's grown into most of your net worth, generalist advice will cost you. Specialist advice usually pays for itself many times over.
What fees do you charge?
We are a fee-only firm, which means no commissions or hidden incentives. Most clients engage us for ongoing wealth management, which includes investment management and tax planning. We also offer project based corporate exit plans. You can review our services and fees on the What We Do page of our site.
Do you only work with local clients?
No. Our offices are based in North Carolina and Connecticut and serve clients in Boston and other tech hubs, we work virtually with clients nationwide.
